How did you end up where you are?

I was always creative as a child but was never really encouraged to pursue it so I went in a completely opposite direction sitting at a boring office desk with my only excitement being paper cuts. In the begining of 2006 I began focusing more into my hobby of crafting. I loved doodling as a child and was still to this day drawing odd shaped blobs. With that, I turned them into plushies and wanted them to reflect my personality and put a handful up online and sold them in a short time. I decided then that I was only happiest with my felt and polyfil and never looked back.

What is in the name "Paper Girl Productions"? Why did you choose it?

Paper Girl Productions was chosen because I had a fascination of paper before the plushies even came about. I would collect anything cute, bright and pretty to cut up rip, glue, staple, painted on, you name it. Also, I always need paper for my plushie ideas that pop up every hour it seems. So paper is always on hand for this papery girl.

Tell us of this strange, cold land called Canada.

Is Canada really that strange? I live in a city called Winnipeg and it's only cold during the winter season but when it's cold, it IS COLD. We're nicknamed Winterpeg! We do get alot of snow but what's Winterpeg without snow? When it first hits the ground it's so beautiful but I remember last year when it became literally like an ocean of snow. Sidewalks, roads, everything was a mass of snow. As far as people, Canadians are one of the most friendliest people around the world. Canadians rock eh!

How did you learn to make such adorable stuffed creatures?

With lots of trial and error. I create all my plushies by hand. Every stitch. I still have some of my first attempts and they look like they need CPR.

Where do you draw your inspiration?

Oh gosh...in everything around me! I'm even inspired when I see a pink fuzzy cute sweater thinking how I can turn this into a plushie while everyone else is trying it on. I love 80s toys, bright colors, desserts and I think it relfects in my work.

Have you ever made anything so cute that it made people go insane just by looking at it? (If so: Did you destroy it or lock it away so that it can do no more harm?)

Yes! I remember when I brought my "Cookie Bunnie Monster" who had a little pouch for her three chocolate chips to one of my classes and everyone kept shrieking even before they got to her. I had to sit on her. No worries, she's safe at home now.

Why are you so obsessed with cupcakes?

There's something about the way the cherry sits on top of the icing. Or maybe it's the chocolate sprinkles or even perhaps the colorful sprinkles and candies. Gosh, who doesn't need a cupcake fix everyday?

Are there any other foods you enjoy turning into adorable art?

Not so much. Oh wait...maybe donuts.

Your website says your art is dangerous to small children, why is that? Do you just not like small children, did a small child do something really horrible to you early in life?

I love children! Sometimes buttons and other materials are used that can be pulled off by their little hands and can be a choking hazard to the little ones and even pets.

If you could name one value an artist must have to be successful what would it be, do you possess this value?

You definitely HAVE to have a passion for what you create and yes, without it there wouldn't have been so many opportunites that have crossed my path since beginning my journey of Paper Girl Productions.

What is your religion, does it play a part in your work?

No religion does not play in my work.

How many people's lives have you brightened with your dolls?

Well I've lost count because I also sell my work locally but they've been adopted by approximately 423. It's so much fun to see them going to the other side of the world if I've sold them online.

What is your favorite material to make dolls out of? Why?

Still felt. It reminds of when I was a kid.

What other things do you make besides adorable dolls?

I also make cute jewellery, crocheted cuffs, hand appliqued clothing and also mixed media collage projects. Of course there are always new things I want to learn and will hopefully get some time to do so.

What would you say to someone that goes "Ewww, there is so much cute I think I'm gonna barf all over the place" when referring to your work?

"ewwwwww....anyone who barfs on my plushies adopts them"

What artist do you most admire? Why?

It's hard to name just one but one of them is Heidi Kenney from My Paper Crane. I love adorable things and she can turn anything into a plushie!

How long do you plan on making adorable crafts?

I can't stop now!

If there was a sudden fire in your residence and you could only save one object what would it be? Why?

My binder of photo cd's. I couldn't bear to lose all my captured memories.

If you could only save one of your crafts which one would it be? Why?

I'm very fond of Bunnie Zorro because she was one of my very first plushies that I created from a scarf someone gave me. I think she looks better in it.

Any upcoming events or projects you'd like to share?

I'll be at the Autumn Leaves Market in Winnipeg on October 27th,2007 and there will be more upcoming events listed on my blog soon.

How about shout outs?

Thank you to every person that has supported Paper Girl Productions!
