Hello People’s JOY Parade enthusiasts!
We are already getting our planning underway for this year’s parade season. I am meeting with my new CAMP intern Melanie Stern today. Please allow her to introduce herself to you:::::::
‘Hello all, I’m so glad to be working with you all! I recently graduated from Washington University in St. Louis with a major in Urban Studies and minors in Architecture and Spanish. I am very interested in working with community arts and grassroots movements and was so excited to learn about the work that CAMP does here on Cherokee Street. I am nearly fluent in Spanish, having recently returned from studying abroad in Argentina. I am also looking at opportunities to return to South America following my work with People’s JOY Parade. I am so excited to be working with Jenny and you all these next coming months and look forward to meeting you all in person!’ ~~ Melanie
It’s still quite cold here in Saint Louis for February but we had our first People’s JOY Parade Volunteer meeting already! We will be having another volunteer meeting on March 14th 2015, Saturday at noon. Meeting location will be CAMP 3026 Cherokee Street, Saint Louis MO 63118. Feel free to bring a snack or beverage to share. We will be discussing ways for volunteers to help out with the Parade this year. We need volunteers on April 11th to help with JoyRitaSTL margarita contest…this will be a large fundraiser for the parade and we want enough people so we can provide 2 shifts of volunteers. You would be running a booth selling tickets, collecting votes, promoting Parade sign-ups and asking for additional donations for People’s JOY Parade. We will also be providing face painting by donation for kiddos and adults! We are also seeking volunteers on the day of the parade May 2nd to assist with different roles in the parade lot, sign-ups and clean up on lot. Do you want to help with kids workshops or have an idea for the parade? We would love to hear your ideas or feedback from last year. Volunteers are needed for outreach and inviting our neighbors to join the parade.
People’s JOY Parade is about spreading joy in our community. Shine on! Spread Joy! Express yourself!
The parade is free to participate and we encourage you to join in the fun!
